Welcome to the first edition of my online newsletter. As your State Representative, I am here to represent and to work on your behalf, not just in Lansing but also in our communities. I hope this e-newsletter will be a helpful tool to let you know what I am working on and keep you informed on the important issues coming up at the Capitol.

Door Bell

I know this is trivial, but today I fixed my door bell. It has been broken for over 20 years, ever since we moved in. My patient wife asked me years ago to fix it, but my motivation was not to please her. After canvassing for several politicians over the last few years I have learned that less than about two in ten homes have functional door bells in Berkley.

Hertel to Talk Future of Transit, Economy and Environment in Berkley

John Hertel, regional transit director, will discuss the regional transit plan and its impact on the economy and environment in Berkley on Tuesday, April 21 at the Public Safety Building at 6:30 p.m.

Aldo Vagnozzi funeral is 10am Saturday, March 28 - 9th District meeting rescheduled

The 9th Congressional District Democratic Party meeting that was scheduled for Saturday, March 28, 2009 has been canceled. It has been rescheduled for April 18, 2009, starting at 12 noon.

The funeral for Aldo Vagnozzi, three-term State Representative, will be held at 10am on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at St. James Catholic Church in Novi.

MI-12: Shocker: Sandy Levin facing a serious primary challenge

Anyone from Michigan knows that the Levin name is pretty much gold in the Michigan Democratic Party. Carl Levin has been kicking ass as one of our U.S. Senators for 30 years, and his older brother, Sander "Sandy" Levin has been a U.S. Representative for as long as I can remember. In addition, various other related Levins have been members of the state Supreme Court, federal judges, and so forth. Sandy's son, Andy Levin, ran for State Senate in 2006 and lost by a hair.

Why am I mentioning this? Because a headline broke today that is sure to cause a whole lot of raised eyebrows throughout the MDP:
